Work In The Comfort Of Your Home- How Can I Do It?

This blog post is going to be everyone, searching for how to work in the comfort of your home.

I know there are plenty of you, finding it tempting, but just a few might know how to actually do it. Do it effectively, so it will bring money, right?

Because work at home can anyone, by constructing a small airplanes models for instance. It can be nice to have something that you like to do at your home to relax or just from pure joy.

But if you want to get paid for what you are doing at home, you would need a bit different tactic or approach.

Things you should have

Right!

Before you start to work from the comfort of your home, you have to possess some important stuff.

Self Discipline
This is the number one characteristic. Believe me, it is very easy to fell for “attractive” distractions when you are working on your own at your home. I am not talking just over the phone, TV, but as well outside temptations like beautiful weather or date. What about inside temptations? You might be very sleepy, but you still have to finish the last paragraphs of your article. What are you going to do if you have a deadline tomorrow morning and you work for some magazine?

Right Tools
Whatever area you are going to work at your home, you’d need the right tools! 
If you’re writing, you need a well-performing PC. If you’re selling a bakery, you need to have a powerful oven. In case you are creating some products, you need to have a machine working well. It will save you a lot of time, money, and nerves if everything’s working smoothly.

Productivity
How productive you will be, so much you can earn! 
If I think about productivity, I’d say as first, avoid any distractions. It can be electronics, or loud music, or some people as well.
Further. Think about productivity hours. There are people being described as Night Owls, and there are people described as an Early Birds. We all know what does it mean right? While you might be producing new ideas at 6 am, your close colleague or partner can hardly imagine to be awake at that time. And the other way around. Find what suits you the best and use it as your advantage. Don’t feel guilty if you can not wake up early and you’re staying up late. Results are here, the most important.

Clear vision and big targets
It can be very frustrating if you don’t know how your end goal looks like. You would be like a turtle. Figuratively speaking, but as well in reality. Your progress can be slower and you will be losing motivation. Your vision and targets are also the pillar of your persistence and will lighten your journey if you’ll feel down. 

Advantages

There are many PROS you will be enjoying when you decide to work from the comfort of your home.

Some of them I named below.

• Your Own Boss/Time Planner
  If you can’t stand your boss or manager, then you might find this very intriguing. It can be revealed after the weeks, months, or even years of listening to someone else is making you your time schedule. Now, you can be FREE to work WHENEVER you want.
• Free Choice Of Projects
  Very similar to the previous one is the fact, that you’d be able to choose the projects. Based on your feelings, sympathy or the client’s reference, you can say YES or NO to various projects. That is a huge FREEDOM BOOST.
• Comfort Of Your Home
  Besides the task, manager, and salary, the very important reason why many people are quitting their daily jobs(I was among them too), is the everyday commute. At one side is the distance, its length can define your willingness to take the job or not. But there are factors I dislike even more as distance. Those being stress of people traveling ON PEAK hours and weather conditions( In the Netherlands it rains a lot -;)
  
• Define Your Earnings
  If you are aiming for time freedom as well for financial freedom, you don’t want to have someone telling you how much you can earn. Nor you wish to get a mortgage and be off your debt after 30 years. Depending on the level of your expertise, you can set up your own hourly rate. You can even decide how many hours you are going to work. Bye-bye the unpaid extra hours.

Disadvantages

Yes, there are some CONS as well. Although in my opinion, they are all manageable if you really want. You know like in the song, where they sing…” you can do it, if you really want to”. Sorry, don’t know the name of the song-;)

• You Can Be Sometimes Lonely
  It can be unusual for you to switch to work at home. Especially if you were used to a bit crowd around you in your daily job. ( I was working in hotel front desk and manager office with some hundreds of people around me, it was different)
  Also in case you enjoyed some of the snacks, drinks, or “borels” how do we call it in the Netherlands after your day at the office. To avoid, this being a problem, I would suggest arranging a weekly or daily, dependant on your nature, some meetups with your friends. Just simple lunch with coffee or evening drink. That way you will feel much more “socially active”. What will definitely help you, is the end target as a motivational point.
• Irregular Projects
  Especially at the beginning, when you are not going to be settled yet, you can experience projects coming your way on an irregular basis. That’s completely normal for a newbie. Rarely, there are home businesses coming with clients base during the starting period. Most likely, as your business will grow, so will your client base and people awareness. Advice could be, during your start, have some solid back up. Either savings or maybe a part-time job to cover the expenses at the beginning.
• Multitasking
  I don’t mean the ability of women, which they are very proud of having it,  to multi-task in that sense. I mean that as a starting home business, in some cases even in case you’ll be well settled and working with several clients already, you would need to manage many “jobs” at once. Think about stuff like accountancy, marketing, HR(if you are going to hire).
  I can imagine it can be overwhelming if you want to have everything done properly. ( And you should have it done properly, there is nothing worse like spending some of your hard-earned money on the tax fines, right?) But if you will do it step-by-step, and you will take enough time to research the important things, it is easier as it sounds. Trust me.

Finally, what can you bring to the world?

In today’s digital economy many traditional business are shifting online. New businesses are regularly starting out online. The present COVID-19 outbreak is also forcing more and more people working from their homes. So it might seem pretty obvious to start an online business.

Even if your primary field of services or products is not going to be online, at some point you want to be present online. Starting companies are almost forced to go online, with their marketing campaigns.

Away, are the times when you could post your advertisement in the newspaper or on the door of a local shop, and you could expect to reach a bunch of people. If you want to reach people in today’s world, you have to go online. Because that is the place, where the majority of the population, hence your potential clients are hanging out.

With that said, what are the fields you can start to work from the comfort of your home?

This is just an example of a couple of fields you can start to work from your home. Or if you are like me you can start a completely new business. The great thing about those fields is that you can acquire the knowledge needed to start, very quickly and in many cases also relatively cheap.

Surely, cheaper and timely efficient compare to university studies of 3,5 or 10 years. If you decided to become an architect or doctor let’s name some examples.

To only find out that if there is a crisis, and people don’t want to build new houses, because they have no money, you have no job.

Of course, the fact that you will be left without a job, is present everywhere, however, chances are very high that if you once acquire the “digital” knowledge, you are going to have incomes permanently.

There is definitely enough earning opportunities online.

I believe that if you are creative enough, you will find the one, which suits you the best.

Don’t forget that. Whatever way of earning you choose, you are full of charge. Either you go further with a more traditional way, or you choose to switch to online, you can always find great opportunities.

Sure enough, there is going to be still demand on “offline” jobs, truth is, however, that the 1/3 of the population is already working digitally, and that numbers are just growing.

The idea behind my post is that you can feel much more in control of the tasks you are working on, your earnings, your working time and still enjoying the comfort of your home.

No more rainy mornings commutes, among other stressed people, to your work.

Yes to, enjoying homemade meals, watering your flowers, or Netflix breaks while in between your work.

Either way, when you are going to think about changing the job, or starting a business think about solving other people’s issues, there is a huge chance you will have projects all the time.
